Walking with Leica 1-2-3 by Kazuo Kitai
The series "Walking with Leica" originated from casual strolls around my neighborhood, capturing the everyday with my camera. However, as the project evolved, particularly around the time the photos in this book were taken, I began to explore the possibility of photography within the confines of my home. Initially, I was drawn to photographing my own "clothes" just after taking them off, struck by the sense that they still harbored a part of me. This introspection extended to capturing scenes around my "pillow" immediately after rising, a "coat hanger" nonchalantly hanging on the curtain rail above my window, and an "apple" through its journey from being washed to being eaten.
These subjects sparked a flurry of ideas that amused and inspired me, leading to the natural progression of the series to include "three citrus fruits" and then "three paper scraps." Although these photos ventured into the realm of the fictitious, they retained a sense of authenticity and spontaneity. The evolution of the series reflects a deepening engagement with the ordinary, finding the extraordinary within the confines of the mundane.
